May 29, 2025If you’ve ever dreamed of hitting the road without giving up the comforts of home, you're going to love our 2008 Prevost bus conversion. Designed for full-time family travel, this luxury motorhome blends high-end residential finishes with off-grid capabilities—and we’re excited to give you the full tour.
Whether you're researching Prevost conversions, planning your own RV renovation, or just love seeing what’s possible in a motorhome, this walkthrough will show you exactly how we turned a commercial coach into a one-of-a-kind family home on wheels.
Why We Chose a 2008 Prevost Bus for Our RV Conversion
We started our journey by asking: Can we live full-time in an RV without feeling like we’re sacrificing comfort, style, or storage?
The answer for us was clear—a Prevost bus conversion. These coaches are known for their durability, smooth ride, and top-tier chassis. Ours started as a 2008 Prevost seated coach, and we transformed it into a custom, high-end motorhome that feels more like a luxury condo than an RV.
Living Room: Comfort Meets Functionality
As soon as you step inside, you’re greeted by a spacious living area filled with natural light from panoramic windows. Instead of RV furniture, we installed a residential-style power recliner loveseat—perfect for movie nights or relaxing with a view.
Above the couch are custom-built overhead cabinets with soft-close hardware, and opposite the recliners is a drop-down projector screen that tucks away when not in use. We stream our favorite shows using a compact projector and Apple TV system.
Our flooring is luxury vinyl plank—durable, pet/kid-friendly, and warm underfoot.
Kitchen: Cooking Like Home on the Road
This isn’t your typical RV galley. Our fully custom kitchen includes:
-
Solid surface countertops
-
A 2-burner induction cooktop
-
A deep farmhouse sink with pull-down faucet
-
Overhead and under-counter soft-close cabinetry
-
A residential refrigerator with ice maker
-
Hidden pantry storage and spice drawers
We also included an appliance garage to keep the coffee maker, toaster, and blender tucked away but easily accessible.
Dining & Workspace Combo
Across from the kitchen, we created a multi-use dinette/workspace that seats four. The table slides out for extra room and collapses for travel days. It’s also where we homeschool, work remotely, and edit our YouTube videos.
Power outlets and USB ports are tucked beneath the table for charging devices.
Kids' Bunk Room: Designed for Growing Kids
One of the most unique features of our bus conversion is the mid-coach bunkroom, built just for our kids. Each bunk has:
-
A privacy curtain
-
Personal reading lights and USB ports
-
Built-in shelves for books, toys, and essentials
-
Hidden storage beneath the bottom bunks
We added custom drawers underneath for extra clothing storage, and the hallway is wide enough for everyone to move around comfortably—even with the slides in.
Full-Width Bathroom: Spa-Like and Functional
One of the biggest upgrades in our Prevost bus conversion is the full-width bathroom—no more wet baths or cramped corners.
On one side, there’s a large vanity with granite countertops, deep storage drawers, and a backlit mirror. On the opposite side, a residential toilet and full-height linen closet keep things neat and functional.
But the real highlight? The spa-style tiled shower with:
-
A rainfall showerhead and handheld sprayer
-
A built-in bench
-
A skylight that floods the space with natural light
Master Bedroom: Comfort and Storage in One
Our private rear bedroom is calm, quiet, and designed to feel like home. Features include:
-
A king-size bed with lift-up underbed storage
-
Full-height wardrobes for hanging clothes
-
A built-in dresser with six drawers
-
A mounted TV with swing arm
-
A Splendide washer/dryer combo in its own closet
We added reading lights, bedside shelves, and USB ports to make bedtime cozy and practical.
Smart Technology and Off-Grid Power
We wanted to travel without limits—so we built this bus to be off-grid capable and easy to operate:
-
A 20kW generator
-
Firefly Controls system with touchscreen panels and mobile app access
-
Slide-out bay storage trays underneath the coach
-
Outdoor kitchen hookups and optional TV mount
Everything from lighting to tanks to HVAC can be monitored and adjusted with a few taps—whether we’re inside or out exploring.
